Daisy Newspaper Retrieval April 6, 2011 6:52AM
We're beginning to practice for the big Sunday paper!
Daisy's been jumping through hoola hoops to show Aunt Joan how she can be like Grandma's past dog Boots and now she's learning to retrieve the newspaper to impress dad.
We're looking forward to the Cavalier Easter Egg Hunt this weekend!

Getting spoiled again
We always look forward to the weekend. We woke up this Saturday morning, ate breakfast, watched Dogs101 and planned a ride over to The Active Pet.
Dogs101 had a little special featuring all the first dogs--pets in the White House over the years. Ronald Reagan and his wife actually had a Blenheim King Charles Cavalier like Daisy. Their dog's name was Rex and the folks they interviewed said he was a yapper which is hard to believe knowing the breed's quiet temperament.
Later in the morning we packed some snacks and took a ride over to The Active Pet. The weather was hinting at the opportunity to walk along the pier or play near the lake. We visited with Bruce's cavaliers, George and Minnie. Bruce is one of the owners of The Active Pet. He hosted the Cavalier dog meet-up earlier in the month. There were 10-11 cavaliers, or as the doggy cake read, "CavaCheers!".
I thought today was a great day for Daisy to go back and pick out a few treats and knickknacks. It was a fun visit and Brandon got to meet some of the dogs and Bruce.
Daisy doesn't know yet, but she's going to have quite the Easter basket! We ordered a variety of toys online and will spoil her yet again.
Daisy will be attending the Greater Cavaliers of Chicagoland Easter Egg Hunt next weekend. She has the cutest Easter Bunny outfit to wear to the egg hunt and Easter with the family of course!

Spring Break with The Man of the House
Brandon has spring break this week... What that means for Daisy is naps on the couch all day and some supervised fun with toys.
Unfortunately Brandon broke his foot last week. It's definitely a bummer. Daisy still gets her walks when I come home for lunch, mornings, and after work. Walks and playtime are just more fun with the whole family!
Back to kicking back on our couch together!

Let's Practice
Let's Practice... that's the key words I use when we're going to practice our trained tricks. Daisy has been doing pretty good with her learning. I get her to find her "Dotty Dalmation" toy often, but sometimes she thinks I'm saying "Daddy" and goes to Brandon instead, haha.
I have a list of tricks and we've been progressing. Here's what she's mastered so far:

WELCOME WEEKEND!!!
We are so glad the weekend's almost here! Happy Friday!
The past few fridays have been such a tease. We've taken a walk at lunch time and have so much sunshine to enjoy while we roam around the park. It always gets me so excited and we begin planning our evening walk and exercise only to come home to cold nights. Hopefully this evening after work won't be so disappointing. We have Spring Ahead an hour this weekend too... There's hope!
Speaking of the weekend, we're going to our second Doggy MeetUp on Sunday. Brandon's coming with this time and will see what fun it is!
T-minus a 2.5hrs until the WEEKEND!!!

Strike a pose...She's a natural!
Too Funny!
We visited with my parents last weekend where my mom had her photo backdrop set-up for an appointment. Daisy's been working on her sit & stays... Of course we posed for a few snaps. She's so photogenic! What a natural! It didn't hurt that she just had a professional bath and trim the day before!
When you click through the photos, you can see the slight adjustments in her posture. Cute, pretty, and so modelesque! Shoulders back and chin up. Some of these really crack me up!
