Coach's Pet

COACH'S PET
Daisy's new Limestone College Apparel
We made it home after 3 days of meetings, interviews, and searching for a place in SC.  Brandon accepted a college coaching position at Limestone College and we'll be making the move in the coming weeks.

Daisy will enjoy the place we picked out.  It has much more space, a dog park, a.k.a "bark park" here in the south, and lots of trails and courtyards to play.  I went to the Barkery Bistro in Greenville & picked her up a new leash & harness lime green with Daisies on it for her souvenir. ;)

She was very excited to re-unite with us coming home yesterday.  She spent the past few days with my parents and they loved having her.  I guess she went to my cousin's baseball game and sat on my aunt's lap.  Too funny!

Its been a whirlwind, but things are falling into place.

Cavalier Meet Up!

Talk about a wonderful day...

Brandon and Daisy are snoozing on the couch... it was that great!

Daisy seems to be wrestling Cookie for treat
Brandon came home from coaching nationals yesterday and we started his weekend with a nice walk and play in the park to start Daisy's Saturday.  We walked over to La Peep for breakfast and Daisy sat very well behaved on the sidewalk cafe.  She even made a friend or two.  There was a cute little baby interested in her as well as another pup that had the same leash design.  oooh classy!

After some relaxing and chores, we visited with Stella and Sugar at the park in our afternoon walk.  Then we headed to the Cavalier Meet-up at Paws and Claws.  We had so much fun catching up with our cavalier friends and making new cavalier friends.  How cute!

Julia, the cookie fairy, treated the pups to some patriotic treats and Bruce from Active Pet brought some cute cakes for the pups to devour.  Bruce even had some oh-so-generous goody bags for us to take home.  Thank You Thank You Thank You!!

We had so much fun!

Daisy goes shopping

Daisy goes shopping!

Woah!  Who's in that Mirror!?

For lunch today, Daisy and I walked over to the local gift boutiques on Madison.  Daisy loves to come along because these stores welcome dogs like Daisy.  She even gets a dog treat for shopping there!

We picked out some real cute gifts for Emma Grace's baptism Sunday.

Father's Day Weekend in the Hamptons

We had an early start saturday morning when we brought Brandon to the airport at 6am.  Once we got back to the house we had breakfast and decided we were up for the day!  I went out to run some errands before 8 and even ran into one of Daisy's Vet/nurses.  I picked up some key ingredients for the nectarine hazelnut pastry that I baked that morning.

Once the baking was done and we were packed, we jumped in the car to head to the 'Hamptons,' also known as the suburbs.  Daisy took the driver's seat as I loaded the car.

In the afternoon we headed to Mokena where Daisy met her cousin Charlotte.

Daisy and her cousin (my brother's dog) Charlotte
Daisy has a tendency of waking up the same time Sunday as we do on Saturday... I guess its our fault for setting the tone.  Last Saturday, I woke up at 4:30am, let Daisy out, brought her back in for a nap as I went to the H2O sale.  The day after that she woke up early again, naturally...   This weekend we spent the night at my parents house and Sunday morning she was up at 5:45am again (after waking up 5:45am on Saturday to take Brandon to the airport).  We didn't get a nap in after that...  I take that back--I didn't get a nap in after that.  Daisy made herelf comfortable on dad's recliner lazy boys...

After we spent most the weekend in Mokena, I headed over to Brandon's parents' for dinner with his family.  Brandon's team has been winning the first two days of the nationals tourney.  Daisy got to meet some aunts and uncles and Papa & Carol.  Even ran around the yard with Brandon's brother Andew's dog, Vegas.

After a nice weekend we headed home only to find bumper to bumper traffic all the way back to the city... bummer.  We finally made it home, washed up, and called it a night!

Monday came and it was storming in the morning!  We went out quick and ended up staying home and taking a recovery day.  Daisy didn't mind....

Movie Night!

Daisy's settling in and ready for the movie in the park
We're always up to something!

Mary Bartelme Park (near us) hosted their first of several summer movie nights in the park.  We brought the weather proof blanket and beach chair for a relaxing evening.
We had a crew of cavaliers to enjoy the evening with!
We met up with Julia and Cookie again (black & tan)... as well as Joslyn & Justin with A.J. (ruby).. and we finally met Charlie (blenheim) with Carolyn.  Too much fun!

Julia, Cookie, Daisy & I get ready for the movie to start... Daisy must be eating grass again because she has a goofy smirk on her face!

Another fun day with a Cavalier Friend

Oh, that's the cavalier gaze!
This picture was post-frosty-pup treat...
I can still see a little ice cream residue that was all over Daisy's nose!
Daisy and I caught up with Stella & Leisa at the park before we walked over to the Guerilla Truck show on Fulton.  Uncle Todd came along too and Daisy gets so excited for his attention it cracks me up!

We went over to Chicago Party Animals while they had the open house during the street art fair event.  We knew the Fido truck was going to be there so we treated Daisy & Stella to the peanut butter/banana frosty dog treat.  They were in heaven!

We spent the whole evening chatting mingling and walking around town.  What a beautiful Tuesday night!  We all slept well... all 4-6 legs!
Hey girls, over here!

givin kisses!

Hanging with friends at the Art Festival

Daisy and I joined our friends Cookie & Julia yesterday to walk the Wells St. Art Festival.  Julia found a real cute souveniour painting of a black and tan cavalier to take home and we enjoyed the Sunday crowd while running into many other cute cavaliers.  We even ran into Poppy, a ruby we met in January when we were picking up Daisy.  Poppy was up in Ingleside while she was giving birth to puppies.  I guess, Speedy, Daisy's dad, is Poppy's grand-dad... Small world!!

Here are a few pics of the show-stoppas!
These girls were popular pups walkin down Wells Street!

FIDO to Go has Ice Cream

The local FIDO truck has ice cream and treats for pups.  We've seen it a few times and I tracked it and saw that it'd be at our park on Tuesday, so I was sure to bring some cash to surprise Daisy with a treat.  She got an all natural banana peanut butter flavored frosty pup item and boy did she love me for it.

That was Tuesday.  On Thursday we were walking to the park and saw the big yellow truck again, but this time I didn't have any change in the pockets.  Nothing was more attractive than that big yellow truck.  She went to say hello  to the same man that was working the sale.  She sat and wagged her tail like the cutest little thing.  She wasn't getting anything unless she did their dishes though!  Next Time Daisy, next time we'll be prepared.

What a goofball.
Look at this stubborn look - someone wants a treat from the FIDO truck!

Family day

Its not every weekend we have a free day to spend together.  Brandon and I suited up Daisy for a Doggyride and bike ride through the city.  We started off at our local dog park where we saw some of the Avon 26k walk (we saw them randomly scattered throughout the city and they all got a kick out of seeing little Daisy cruising along).

After a quick lap around the Buckingham Fountain, we got a sprinkle at the fun water fountain in front of Navy Pier.

One of the water spouts sprung up unexpectedly!

We continued on the path heading north along the lake.  Brandon ran into his old cycling coach and we chatted it up while Daisy watched the birds fly over the boats on the lake.

We visited with some friends at North Ave beach and full-circled on home for a dip in the puppy pool in our west loop dog park.  It was a warm one out there!  Daisy enjoyed the breeze we created riding bikes and creating a wind-flow.

After the fun family ride, it was time for a bath.  And boy are we sleeping good now as the storm's coming in to cool off a bit.
